COMFORTABLE UNDER LOAD, HEAVY BEFORE YOU START
The original Team Elk was a huge step up from basic frameless packs and has carried weight comfortably across western hunts, but its durability and integrated scabbard come with real weight and less modularity than newer systems. It remains a dependable hauler if you accept the starting weight and treat the rifle scabbard carefully.
The frame and suspension transfer working loads comfortably to the hips.
Quiet, tough fabric has held up across Montana, Idaho, and Maine.
The integrated scabbard is useful when the pack is not overfilled and the rifle slides freely.
Tradeoff: the pack is heavy, large optics fit poorly, and forcing a rifle into the scabbard can create serious problems.
