The 32-ounce wide-mouth Nalgene remains useful because it is light, durable, easy to inspect, and easy to clean. It lacks the hands-free convenience of a bladder and the temperature control of an insulated bottle, but for cold weather, travel, camp, backup storage, and any situation where simplicity matters, it is difficult to beat.
Much lighter than large insulated bottles when miles and pack weight matter.
The wide mouth is easy to clean, fill with ice, and pair with common filters.
It tolerates hard use and can hold hot water for cold-weather camp use.
