One of the more versatile pieces in the system because it lives between fleece and light softshell. Warm enough to matter, breathable enough to move in, and protective enough to wear by itself surprisingly often. The best layering pieces are the ones you don’t constantly have to take on and off. The Navigator is aimed directly at that variable-condition middle ground.
Excellent balance of warmth and breathability.
Useful as either a midlayer or mild-weather outer layer.
Hood and kangaroo pocket make it comfortable enough that it doesn't feel purely technical.
Tradeoff: Not true insulation for long stationary periods in serious cold.
