For me, the Furnace bottoms are where the system shifts from general cold-weather layering to real low-output cold. They make the most sense when I’m sitting more than moving—below-freezing duck blinds are exactly the kind of use where I want the extra warmth. I wouldn’t make them the default for every cold hunt; they’re the heavier tool for when the conditions justify it.
