Overview

The reviewed non-insulated Recurve 7-inch Brown Danner Dry configuration combines full-grain leather and suede, a waterproof lining, a removable OrthoLite footbed, Vibram SPE cushioning, and a Vibram Recurve outsole for mobile hunting.

WHAT MATTERS

Waterproof without added insulation
Style 47611 combines Danner Dry waterproofing with a non-insulated construction.
Cushioned walking platform
A rubberized EVA Vibram SPE midsole and removable multi-density OrthoLite footbed form the cushioning package.
Adaptive outsole design
Vibram Recurve uses Megagrip rubber with adapting lugs and flex lines.
Leather-and-suede upper
Full-grain leather and suede provide the exact Brown style’s upper construction; nylon from other Recurve styles is not substituted.
Underfoot and heel structure
A nylon shank and TPU heel clip supplement the seven-inch upper.
DPDX fit platform
Danner specifies its low-profile DPDX last and recommends going down a half size if between sizes. This is manufacturer guidance, not a fit guarantee.

GTW TAKE

“

A midpriced walking boot for mobile hunts

The reviewed non-insulated Recurve is a sensible candidate for hunters who spend more time walking than sitting in deep cold. At $270 direct, its cushioned midsole, waterproof lining and seven-inch leather/suede upper form a practical general-hunting package. Its flexible character and non-recraftable construction make fit, terrain and expected use important buying checks. This assessment combines current specifications and attributed research, not GTW field use.
Sean McCoy’s 2022 GearJunkie test covered two seasons with the uninsulated Recurve and supports a long-walking role.
That reviewer also reported warm-weather breathability and lace-hook frustrations; do not promise cool feet or effortless lacing.
The historical test is not proof that every current-production detail or individual pair is unchanged.
Use the manufacturer’s 45 ounces per pair; the older review contains an erroneous per-boot conversion.
Select exact non-insulated Brown 47611; insulated and Moc Toe Recurve styles have separate identities.
