Overview
A third-generation, mid-height waterproof hiking boot pairing a synthetic ripstop upper with dual-density EVA cushioning, external TPU heel stabilization and a FriXion outsole for technical trails.
WHAT MATTERS
Technical ripstop upper
Synthetic ripstop panels and reinforced lacing/mudguard areas address rough-trail wear.
ePE weather barrier
GORE-TEX ePE Extended Comfort provides the specified waterproof-breathable lining.
Dual-density cushioning
Two-density compression-molded EVA combines cushioning with targeted underfoot support.
Traction-focused sole
FriXion XF 2.0 works with the Impact Brake System and Trail Bite Heel tread design.
External heel stabilization
TPU Transkinetic EVO components support and stabilize the heel.
Protective collar and toe
The padded mid-height collar and integrated rubber toe cap add debris and impact coverage.
Roomier generation-three fit
Manufacturer describes more room than earlier models while retaining Tempo 2 / Medium fit.
GTW TAKE
“
A lighter technical-trail option for mobile hunts
Ultra Raptor 3 Mid GTX is worth considering for scouting and active day hunts where a full leather mountain boot feels excessive. Its nominal 430 g per boot, grippy outsole design and protected heel/toe make the technical-hiking role clear. The tradeoff is a lighter platform with less reserve than a heavy load-hauling boot. Hunting suitability here is an inference from the verified design, not a GTW field-test verdict.
A plausible fit for high-mileage day use and lighter loads on broken trails.
Medium fit remains the stated last category despite added room versus earlier generations; try before a remote trip.
The waterproof mid-height design does not establish deep-water protection or hot-weather comfort.
No claim of sustained heavy-pack durability or injury prevention is supported by this dossier.
