Kinesis Pro GTX is a practical candidate when a hunt calls for a substantial backpacking boot: thick leather, a full rand and PU underfoot protection. The nominal 850 g per boot makes its weight tradeoff clear. It is worth trying with the socks and insoles you will actually use before choosing it for long sidehills or a loaded pack-out. This is a design-based assessment, without a claim of GTW field testing.
Best considered for rugged travel where protection matters more than minimal boot weight.
The current US listing specifies an ePE lining; older field reviews may describe earlier membrane construction.
A high cuff is a coverage detail, not evidence of ankle-injury prevention.
Fit and break-in should be checked before committing to a remote hunt.
